Soo picks up heavy chains with a spiked collar saying the buyer wants her in nothing but the chains when he collects her. Nic knew what he was doing selling her, but there was a difference in control and depravity. He has Soo drop the chains and he heads to the office where he left her.
But, when he opens the door the room is empty. She's gone.
Celia turns around as the door to Nic's office opens and seeing the familiar face of Lucas she smarts off to him. Then he conks her on her head. Before she leaves conscientiousness she hears him say "is that any way to talk to your older brother "?
What an amazing finish to Nic and Celia's story! This story had several surprising twists that led back to the beginning. Although I'm so happy that Celia's father got his dues, I so hated that this story ended! I sure hope that Lucas and Soo get their own stories because underneath it all they are also amazing men.
This is mafia romance at its best. We have power struggles, murder, intrigue, betrayal, and raw sexual dynamics. There are crimes and then there is true evil. Even as you hate some of these characters you have to admit these writers bring them to life.
Like everything I've read by JL Beck and C Hallman, this series is spectacular! Highly recommend this series!
