REVIEW - PROTECTING LU by Kara Kelley

Jeff is in a car not meant for his tall frame staking out Gage's apartment building.  Instead of one of his security firm's cars, he borrowed a neighbor's son's dented and banged up car that so he didn't stand out on this side of town.

While he's watching the apartment building, a petite blonde woman who is obviously nervous and doesn't belong here stops and has words with the leering man who seems to be on the watch for someone.  Sure enough, as soon as she walks into the building he gets out his phone and makes a call.

It isn't long before a member of Satan's Ransom rumbles up on his Harley.  Satan's Ransom, the motorcycle gang that killed his sister and left Reese without a mother.

If it wasn't for the fact that she owed Gage for saving her life when they were younger she wouldn't have shown when he asked for help.  Gage was her foster brother and had almost died from the beating he received saving her from being raped by their foster father.  The beating luckily got them out of that home and she is so angry when she finds Gage overdosing.  Angry that he had sunk so deep into a life they had fought to escape.

Outside the building, she knows she's in trouble when Python, a member of Satan's Ransom deposits her on the back of his motorcycle and takes off.  They weren't happy that Lu had called paramedics and they lost all their drugs and she had two choices in how to pay them back - with cash or her life.

I loved this book.  It is action-packed and full of suspense and mystery.  The characters are full of life and you can feel the evil seeping from the pores of Preacher, Slash, and the other Satan's Ransom members.

Jeff is a detective and has made it his life's mission to find the information needed to put Satan's Ransom MC away for good after killing his sister.  The police aren't interested in getting involved and marked her death as a "suicide".

Lu is a vet tech who fought through the foster care system and put herself through school so she could make something of her life.  She gets caught up in Gage's illegal life accidentally and is working herself to death trying to pay off the debt owed.

I found the plot and storyline of PROTECTING LU to be very interesting and engaging and couldn't put the book down once I started reading.  Lu's sassy attitude brings out a Daddy Dom persona Jeff didn't know he had until Lu came into his life.

I highly recommend this book.  It is funny, full of action, and the chemistry and sex between Lu and Jeff are smoking hot.  I look forward to reading more by Kara Kelley and Python's story!
