REVIEW - THE RUINS OF US by Catharina Maura

Emilia escaped to London eight years ago.  She loves her job as a Transactional Lawyer and has been dating a neurosurgeon for a little over a year.  The night her boyfriend asks her to move in with him she gets a devastating call from her dad.  He has advanced renal failure and needs her to come home.

Carter and Asher's dream have become a reality and their tech company is known worldwide.  Surprisingly, Emilia's father has become like a second father to him.  He wouldn't have survived Emilia leaving without him.  He is devastated by John's diagnosis and is determined to find a kidney for him even if he has to get one off the black market.

I loved this 3-book series even though I ugly cried through a good portion.   Their pranks began when they were children and got them in detention too many times to count.  I really hated Kate throughout most of the series, but she was finally able to redeem herself.  All the characters in the books are amazing and you feel that you know them personally and feel their excitement and pain.  The chemistry and sex are smoking hot!

I highly recommend this series and anything written by Catharina Maura.  Her books are well written and she draws on all your emotions so be prepared to have kleenex close by.
